Senior Android Mobile Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Android Software Engineer to join Axon VIBE’s “Analytics & Insights” team. You will be joining a globally distributed team from our headquarters in Switzerland or one of our locations in the UK.

Your job is to engineer solutions that support Axon Vibe’s core capabilities of efficiently gathering and processing user data to discover the user’s behaviors. These solutions then supply contextually relevant insights to the user. You will be primarily focused on our platform’s SDK (Software Development Kit). Supplying the essential bridge between our beautiful front end, our partners apps, and Axon Vibe’s powerful server-side processes. This is built to delight and aid the user: making all forms of mobility as accessible and convenient as owning a car.

You will

  • Work on solutions aimed at enabling users to better make use of transport networks and the efficacy of those networks.
  • Collect user data in a privacy-sensitive and battery-efficient manner.
  • Implement on-device analytics, including machine learnt models.
  • Work autonomously but integrated into a cross-functional team.
  • Advocate for the best in Android development.
  • Contribute to the creation and evolution of software design and development processes.
  • Bring your experience in Android to cross-platform discussions.
  • Work with the team and product owner to provide value to the user.
  • Work with front-end development teams and clients to build outstanding mobile solutions.
  • Be committed to the product lifecycle, contributing to the creation of an Android development backlog.

About You

The person we’re looking for is enthusiastic, keen to learn, data-driven, and passionate about user experience. You’re a creative problem solver and happy to roll up your sleeves when the going gets tough.

  • Proven experience (5 years+) in native Android (Java or Kotlin) development.
  • Up to date with software design and architecture patterns.
  • Comfortable with continuous integration development pipelines.
  • Experiences in agile methodologies, especially Scrum and Kanban.
  • iOS (Swift) experience as a plus.
  • TensorFlow/TensorFlow lite experience as a plus.
  • Cross-platform development experience (KMP, Flutter, React Native) as a plus.
  • Full-stack experience (Java/Spring) as a plus.
  • English is our working language – German as a plus.
